The coronavirus pandemic has made life unfamiliar and, often times, very difficult.
We wish to send our condolences to anyone who has lost a loved one before their time during this global crisis.
In a bid to gradually return to normal, governments across the UK are implementing changes to lockdown restrictions in an attempt to re-start the economy which has remain stagnant for an unprecedented quarter of a year.
Today, the Welsh government announced that non-essential retail shops can open from the 22nd of June, provided they have put forward safety measures in order to limit the spread of the virus. Although we are classified as 'home & furniture' retailers and thus have been allowed to open for a few weeks now, we felt that we needed time to implement our safety measures thoroughly in order to make Quaeck's a covid safe environment for our customers and members of staff.
We are pleased to announce that Quaeck's will be re-opening it's doors to the public on the 22nd of June, after being closed for the first time in our
70 year history. Our opening hours will be as they were before, but this will be constantly reviewed.

Hand Sanitiser
We have set up hand sanitising stations at the entrances of both shops so that customers can clean their hands before entering the buildings. The hand sanitising stations are regularly checked to ensure that the dispensers are adequately full. Members of staff will have access to their own hand sanitising equipment so that the chances of cross-contamination is kept to a minimum. The hand sanitiser we have purchased is medical grade sanitiser with a high alcohol content.

Social Distancing Guidance
Our clearly marked one-way system should help customers navigate both shops with minimal contact with each other. 133 High Street (furniture & beds) will see customers enter through the main entrance and follow a path marked by arrows and 2-metre-interval tape through the showroom, and then exit near the till area through a different door. This will mean that customers will have no contact whatsoever with each other, and thus reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus. In 150 High Street (soft furnishings & carpets), the story is much of the same, except customers will be asked to enter and exit through the same door. In order to combat this slight area of increased risk, we have removed some displays from the entrance to 150 High Street, giving crossing customers ample amount of room to pass each other whilst observing the 2 metre social distancing rule.
Sneeze Guards
We have placed large glass sneeze guards in front of both tills in order to protect both our customers and our members of staff. The guards have small openings at the bottom in order to minimise the contact the customer has with a member of staff. The openings are akin to those seen in post offices and banks; they allow the customer and member of staff to communicate whilst minimising the risk of coronavirus contraction.
Face Coverings
Scientific advice on face coverings is mixed. As the pandemic has unfurled, more and more scientific observations appear to point towards face coverings being somewhat useful in limiting the spread of the coronavirus, largely due to the fact that wearing a mask discourages people from touching their face. We would encourage customers to wear face masks if available, particularly if the shops are busy during your visit. In an emergency situation, we would provide face coverings for you.
Gloves
Much like face coverings, gloves are a matter of scientific debate. There is a general consensus that wearing gloves can be effective in combating the spread of coronavirus, however, it is widely accepted that washing hands regularly with sanitiser or soap is a more effective measure. That's why we decided to set up hand sanitising stations at the entrances, rather than handing out gloves. Customers are more than welcome to wear gloves in the shop, though we would encourage the use of sanitiser too.
Payments
We continue to accept all major cards, cheques, bank transfers and cash. We encourage our customers to pay using a contactless payment method where possible.
